Mirziyoyev: Belarus, Uzbekistan will set up joint foreign trade company

TASHKENT, 8 February (BelTA) - Belarus and Uzbekistan will set up a joint foreign trade company, Uzbekistan President Shavkat Mirziyoyev said at the talks with Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Tashkent on 8 February, BelTA has learned.

"We agreed to maintain active contacts at the level of parliaments, governments, ministers and regions. We reaffirmed our commitment to continuing mutual support within the framework of international organizations. We discussed the measures to increase trade over $1 billion, first of all, by means of expanding the range and opportunities for import substitution. We have not used even half of them," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.

He noted that Belarusian products are well known in Uzbekistan. In turn, Uzbekistan has a lot to offer its partners in Belarus. According to him, the parties agreed to set up a joint foreign trade company.

"In order to organize systemic mutual deliveries, we instructed the government to set up a joint foreign trade company - both in Minsk and in Tashkent; introduce export support mechanisms and an electronic system for certification of goods," Shavkat Mirziyoyev said.
