Minsk Tractor Works plans to open assembly plant in Pakistan in 2015

MINSK, 22 May (BelTA) - Minsk Tractor Works (MTZ trademark) plans to set up an assembly plant in Pakistan in 2015, MTZ Chief Designer Andrei Stasilevich told a press conference to mark the 69th anniversary of the founding of the plant, BelTA has learned.

"The work on setting up the assembly plant in Pakistan is nearing completion: we have already sent a batch of tractor sets there. In addition, we are creating a plant near Vilnius in Lithuania. It will manufacture the tractors with the upgraded transmission with the capacity from 80 to 200hp. This plant will target the European market,” said Andrei Stasilevich.

"A model of a small-sized tractor has been designed specifically for Egypt. We have two assembly plants there. Now we are working on a third one. MTZ is also designing a tractor running on gas and diesel for Russia. It will be assembled in Tatarstan. In Russia we have 6 assembly plants,” Andrei Stasilevich noted.

MTA also operates an assembly plant in China, and will soon open the second one there. Zongshen Industrial Group signed agreements with MTZ and Gomselmash to set up joint ventures with Chinese and foreign capital. The documents were endorsed at the Belarusian-Chinese Interregional Business Forum which was held in Minsk on 11 May.

Minsk Tractor Works was founded in 1946. It is part of the system of enterprises run by the Belarusian Industry Ministry. The company offers over 60 models and modifications of tractors and vehicles with over 100 options for all kinds of climatic and operational conditions. For the last few years MTZ has kept an 8-10% share of the global market of wheeled tractors. MTZ has assembly enterprises in Russia, Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Kazakhstan, China, Romania, Egypt, Serbia, Algeria, Venezuela, and other countries. The industrial group MTZ comprises 11 enterprises.
