Minsk to host presentation of biotechnological cluster on 14 April

MINSK, 11 April (BelTA) – The presentation of the national biotechnological cluster will take place in Minsk on 14 April, BelTA learnt from the press service of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus (NASB).

The presentation will take place at the Institute of Microbiology of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus. The event will feature the information about the facility, its scientific and production potential, strategic areas of activity, its role in forming highly-effective bioeconomy in Belarus.

The cluster unites the country’s leading R&D institutes (the NASB Institute of Microbiology, the NASB Institute of Genetics and Cytology, the Institute of Meat and Dairy Industry) and industrial companies (Bobruisk Plant of Biotechnologies, Frandesa, Biokom) for the scientific support of the development of the country’s biotechnological sector.

The priority tasks of the cluster are the development of the national bio-industry development concept; the scientific management of state programs in the development of innovative sci-tech products and their commercialization; the development of the information and analytical infrastructure of the national biotechnology. Its activity will promote the competitive ability and export potential of national biotechnologies, the reduction of dependence on imports in a number of biotechnological products and services, the creation of high-tech manufacturing facilities and the production of new types of science intensive products which is a necessary condition for economic growth in the country.
