Minsk to host international conference on public-private partnership

MINSK, 27 October (BelTA) – Minsk will host a joint international conference of the Belarusian Economy Ministry and the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UNECE) on prospects of public-private partnership (PPP) in the Republic of Belarus on 5 to 6 November, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Economy Ministry.

The conference will be divided into three sections. Its participants will analyze the effectiveness of international technical assistance in the promotion of PPP, share best international practices in this field, and discuss legal and regulatory issues in Belarus. “We expect that the participants of the conference will work out recommendations on further development and implementation of PPP mechanisms. The recommendations will be submitted to the Belarusian government for consideration,” the press service noted.

The conference has been organized as part of the EU/UNDP project “Strengthening national capacities of the Republic of Belarus in applying public-private partnership mechanisms”. “The event is aimed at outlining further steps to develop PPP in Belarus taking into account the world's best practices and the progress that the country has already achieved,” the specialists added.

The conference is expected to gather some 300 participants, representatives from the public and private sectors of different fields of economy.

The specialists believe that the session of the expert group on the development of PPP in the countries of the Eurasian Economic Union scheduled for 5 November will also be an important event.
