Minsk, Budapest seek to step up trade in food

MINSK, 10 April (BelTA) – Minsk and Budapest are considering ways to boost the bilateral trade in food products. They believe that establishment of new sales points is one of the options. The plans to bolster the bilateral trade were discussed during the meeting between Minsk Mayor Andrei Shorets and Budapest Mayor Istvan Tarlos on 10 April, BelTA has learned.

“As for setting up new shops, Minsk is ready to support this initiative. We have the biggest market in the country (Komarovsky Market – BelTA’s note), and we are ready to give the best spots at the marketplace to a Hungarian company that would bring a range of products from your country and sell it in Minsk,” Andrei Shorets said.

For his part, Istvan Tarlos invited the Belarusian side to set up shops to sell products of Minsk-based companies in Budapest.

The meeting discussed a number of issues of mutual interest and ways to strengthen the cooperation in transport, sports, tourism, production, culture, housing and utilities, and other sectors. The mayor of the Belarusian capital invited his colleague from Budapest to exchange experience in promising areas and received his full support.

Andrei Shorets and Istvan Tarlos exchanged souvenirs at the end of the meeting.
