MINSK, 21 September (BelTA) – Belarus is ready to promote socially and economically significant initiatives with China, Belarus’ Economy Minister Aleksandr Chervyakov said at the Xinjiang Production and Construction Corps forum in China, BelTA learned from the press service of the Economy Ministry.

Aleksandr Chervyakov noted that China is one of the three largest trading partners of Belarus. “Our trade and economic cooperation is going through a period of consistent growth. Last year, trade with China amounted to a record $5.1 billion, and has almost doubled over 10 years. Despite the pandemic, Belarusian exports of goods and services to China continue to grow steadily. Last year the export exceeded $1.3 billion. Potash fertilizers, high-quality and environmentally friendly meat and dairy products, timber are in demand. About two hundred Belarusian agricultural enterprises are accredited and operate on the Chinese market. The governments of the two countries are actively working to remove trade barriers and restrictions. We also seriously count on the service sector. We are actively working to create a Belarus-China free trade zone for services and investments,” the minister said.

Aleksandr Chervyakov stressed that Belarus is open for cooperation, promotion of socially and economically significant initiatives. This also implies the creation of high-tech industries, supply of high-quality Belarusian goods to the Chinese market, and managing cargo flows between China and Europe.

According to Aleksandr Chervyakov, the China-Belarus Industrial Park Great Stone is the center of attraction for Chinese and international capital. “About $800 million has been invested in this large-scale joint project. More than 90 high-tech resident companies from 15 countries have been registered, the total volume of declared investments is estimated at more than $1 billion. The industrial park offers the best legal regime for businesses in the EAEU and the EU,” the minister stated.
