MAZ buses among top sellers in Russia

MINSK, 1 February (BelTA) – Products of Minsk Automobile Plant (MAZ trademark) were among the top three best-selling buses on the Russian market in 2016, BelTA learned from MAZ.

Last year, Minsk Automobile Plant sold as many as 825 buses in Russia, up by 53% from 2015. The Avtostat agency ranked the Belarusian manufacturer as the third biggest seller of buses in Russia by the number of vehicles sold. The first and second positions were filled by Pavlovo Bus Factory (PAZ) and Likino Bus Plant (LiAZ) respectively. A total of 10,400 buses were sold in Russia in 2016, up by almost 16% from 2015.

The Belarusian buses are popular in Russia due to their high quality and reasonable price. “MAZ buses are easily recognizable in Russia. They are often chosen as municipalities upgrade their vehicle fleets. The Belarusian vehicles are easy to operate and undemanding. We were among the first to market Euro-6 compliant vehicles and to refresh the interiors. The latest models of buses are on par with European ones,” MAZ specialists said.

MAZ Euro-5 city buses with the new interior and improved level of safety are in great demand in Russia, especially in the cities that are gearing up to host large-scale events. MAZ has designed buses for the FIFA World Cup 2018. The first samples are now tested in Moscow.

Minsk Automobile Plant is set to increase its bus sales in Russia in 2017. “We are determined to strengthen our foothold on the Russian market. Our strategy is to expand the geography with new regions and unoccupied niches. Today we have a lot to offer, from city buses to sightseeing buses, including to the EU countries. Slavonic quality and European comfort and environmental standards place MAZ buses among the best in the world,” MAZ representatives said.

Minsk Automobile Plant has been producing passenger vehicles since 1995. The company sells its urban, inter-city, tourist and special-purpose buses to dozens of countries. MAZ buses regularly receive accolades at international salons and exhibitions for their design, functionality, quality and durability. Today MAZ produces 15 models of passenger vehicles in more than 100 modifications.
