MINSK, 20 December (BelTA) – Cooperation prospects between Belarus and Georgia were discussed at the meeting between Belarus Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei and Georgia President Giorgi Margvelashvili on 20 December, BelTA learned from the website of the Georgian head of state.
The parties discussed the prospects of interaction between the countries and stressed the importance of expanding trade and economic cooperation and deepening interstate relations.
The parties also talked over the forthcoming interstate contacts, including at the highest level.
Special attention was focused on the situation in the region.
Vladimir Makei is on a working visit to Georgia on 20 December. The program of the visit envisages meetings with Georgian President Giorgi Margvelashvili, Chairman of the Parliament Irakli Kobakhidze, and Catholicos-Patriarch Ilia II of Georgia.
A ceremony to open the Belarusian embassy in Georgia will make part of the program. Attending the event will be representatives of the President’s Administration, the government and Parliament of Georgia, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Tbilisi City Hall and also the diplomatic service.
