Major forum for potential investors in Belarus in September

MINSK, 5 May (BelTA) – The Belarusian economic forum Expanding the Horizons: Investments, Finance, Development will take place in Minsk on 29-30 September 2016, BelTA learned from Natalya Nikandrova, Director of the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus, on 5 May.

According to the source, the forum will offer a venue for a direct and open dialogue between representatives of international financial institutions, government agencies, foreign investors and the expert community. “We intend to highlight Belarus as a promising investment site and demonstrate the opportunities that companies can get by cooperating with international financial institutions,” noted Natalya Nikandrova.

A roadmap is supposed to be put together during the forum to improve the business climate and contribute to the development of the public sector and the private one of the Belarusian economy in the long term.

According to Natalya Nikandrova, plans have been made to lift visa requirements for foreign participants of the forum. The Agency believes that the forum will be held every year afterwards.

Participants of the forum are expected to discuss strategies for attracting foreign investments to Belarus, prospects of investment cooperation with institutions of the European Union, the Eurasian Economic Union, and China. Ways to get American investors involved in the implementation of investment projects will be discussed in addition to other topical matters.

Representatives of international and foreign financial institutions are expected to take part in the event as well as representatives of investment funds, foreign private investors, the technical aid funds that finance the Belarusian economy and the funds that plan to start financing or greatly expand their programs in Belarus. Representatives of government agencies and the expert community will take part in the event as well.

The forum’s organizers are the National Agency of Investment and Privatization of Belarus, the investment company Uniter, and the Belarusian Institute for Strategic Studies (BISS).
