MINSK, 22 December (BelTA) – From now on, every proposal brought forward by the business community will be considered by the authorities, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko noted as he met with representatives of the business community on 22 December, BelTA has learned.
The head of state touched upon the work of the Business Promotion Council. “This is the only council set up under the president. This means that we take this matter very seriously. Business self-regulation and minimization of the interference of government officials with its operation make up the basis of the government effort to develop the economy,” Alexander Lukashenko stressed.
This is what the decree on the Business Promotion Council is aimed at. “It is designed to turn the council into a really powerful body that would protect the interests of business. With this goal in mind, we have equipped the council with relevant instruments,” the Belarusian leader said.
Previously business entities complained that the government officials do not take their proposals seriously, the president pointed out. “This is not happening anymore. All the technical barriers to the council’s active work have been removed, and its powers have been enlarged. Now the government bodies cannot just brush off your ideas. Every proposal brought forward by the business community will be mandatory for examination from now on,” the president remarked.
He believes that businessmen should be looking for reasonable ideas from their colleagues in regions, who are sometimes neglected in Minsk. “Come up with specific proposals and promote them, initiate the necessary bills. If you need me to take part in the sessions of the council, feel free to invite me,” Alexander Lukashenko added.
In his words, the council has a new experienced chairman, and many things depend on the businessmen themselves. “Go ahead. The business and the government should maintain a continuous dialogue. The Business Promotion Council is the main platform but not the only one. Active members representing the interests of the business community should be cooperating with the local authorities in every city and district,” the president summarized.
