MINSK, 9 August (BelTA) – Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko believes that the harvesting campaign can be sped up, Spokesperson for the Belarusian President Natalia Eismont told BelTA on 8 August.
Alexander Lukashenko took a helicopter flight over Vitebsk Oblast and the northern part of Minsk Oblast to get familiar with the ongoing harvesting campaign.
The President was interested in concrete figures, i.e. of the harvest-works done, the crop yield, and the agrarians’ forecast for the future crop in the country. As of 8 August one third of lands under crops were harvested in Vitebsk Oblast. This result is lower than in other regions of the country.
The President was not satisfied with the harvesting campaign. Taking into account favorable weather conditions, the harvest works could have been more intensive. According to the head of state, now every minute counts and crop harvesting as well as its efficiency should be accelerated.
