MINSK, 29 April (BelTA) – There is a need to improve the management of state assets and businesses, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in his annual address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly on 29 April, BelTA has learned.
"Competitiveness of enterprises depends on the efficiency of their management. If we do not improve the system of management of state assets and enterprises, we will continue to lose the struggle for markets,” Alexander Lukashenko noted. According to him, the government needs to submit a package of normative documents on the division of the functions of the state as regulator and as owner, and also on the system of enterprise management in the light of the global experience.
The President said that everyone must do their job and achieve the result: the government should manage the economy as a whole, the ministers should be in control of industries, governors of regions and directors of enterprises. The ministries must be dealing with industry-specific regulation: improve legislation, develop technological standards, provide an enabling business environment as well as equal rights for all forms of ownership. Alexander Lukashenko underlined that the main person responsible for the enterprise is its director.
