Lukashenko suggests discussing liberalization of legislation for rural tourism sector

BRASLAV DISTRICT, 4 August (BelTA) – It is possible to discuss the liberalization of legislation for the development of rural tourism, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said when he visited tourism objects in Braslav District on 4 August, BelTA has learned.

Representatives of local rural tourism facilities informed the head of state about the achievements in this field and the potential for tourism development, certain difficulties in the construction of rural estates in Braslav District.

Alexander Lukashenko said that the tourism business, including rural tourism, should be vigorously developing. He listened to the proposals of specialists in this field and said that it is necessary to discuss these issues in detail. “Put forward proposals, perhaps, it will be necessary to cut red tape and liberalize legislation,” the President added. He also recalled the beginning of his presidency when it was needed to interfere to prevent the distribution of the best land plots.

“Back then I made a tough decision to preserve everything for people,” the head of state remarked. As a result, national parks were created, and all people can enjoy their pristine beauty. The President stressed that at the modern state of rural tourism development it is essential, perhaps, to revise the issue and do everything to promote this sector. “This is a right proposal. Perhaps, we should liberalize the legislation to promote the development of rural tourism, including rural estates,” Alexander Lukashenko believes.

Besides, he has a strict demand: all people should have access to the nationwide natural wealth.

Alexander Lukashenko inspected the development of rural tourism on the example of the private enterprise Green Club which is very popular with tourists from other countries.
