MINSK, 29 July (BelTA) – Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko outlined priorities for Belarusian Oil Company as he appointed Mikhail Kostechko its director general on 29 July, BelTA has learned.
“You are aware of the recent developments around Belarusian Oil Company, especially those initiated by the West,” the Belarusian leader said addressing the new head of Belarusian Oil Company. “But I think there are no unresolvable issues. You need to take your place on this market.”
“Being a statesman, I concentrate on state-run enterprises, and I am often criticized for that. I think you will sort things out,” the president concluded. “Many interests are involved there. God forbid you don’t hold out. You must be honest, decent and you should stick to the government policy.”
The president outlined his vision for the Keramin company as he addressed the company’s Director General Dmitry Petrusha. According to the head of state, he visited this enterprise, is well informed about the state of things there and believes that the company is very promising. “But we have a number of questions to the managers who worked there, to senior executives of this enterprise. The management is poor. Last year’s events exposed a number of issues related to the way individual workers behaved. This all depends on us, managers, what teams we have and how they behave,” Aleksandr Lukashenko pointed out.
The head of state is convinced that the new director will cope with the tasks set, while the state, in turn, is ready to provide the necessary support. “This enterprise is on my radar. I had to do a lot to upgrade it. It makes good products, you just need to step up efforts and take your market niche. You need to improve, to develop new products, to stay current with customer needs. The company has good prospects, but it needs some improvements,” the president said.
