BREST, 22 June (BelTA) - Agriculture has been a priority, Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Brest Oblast senior officials and executives on 22 June, BelTA has learned.
“Agriculture has been a priority. The demand for food will be growing,” the Belarusian leader believes.
He noted that no matter how rapidly high technologies develop, farmers’ work will be in demand. Over the years the country has upgraded and rebuilt its agricultural industry, especially in what concerns its social aspects. “We have changed farmers’ labor: we have set up agro-towns, designed new high-performance equipment, which necessitated consolidating agricultural enterprises. We have created raw materials zones. Maybe we have not yet accomplished fully what we aimed for. I think we will do it in a year or two” the president said.
“Our agricultural products, our food products have gained recognition all over the world," the Belarusian leader stressed. China is ready to consume more Belarusian agricultural products. The matter was recently discussed during a telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping,” the Belarusian leader said.
