MINSK, 4 November (BelTA) – Belarus receives a lot of requests for the sale of potassium and joint production of fertilizers, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he approved the appointment of Andrei Rybakov as Belaruskali Director General on 4 November, BelTA has learned.
“It’s true, today Western countries block supplies of potash fertilizers. But I receive an array of requests. I will not name the countries that suggest producing and selling compound, mixed fertilizers together. We need to go for this: we will deliver potassium to a factory on the border with some country where we will mix these fertilizers and immediately sell them abroad together. The demand is enormous: there will always be a high demand for food, while food production is impossible without mineral fertilizers. Therefore, we need to discuss it with countries with which we can produce these fertilizers,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
The president urged to step up efforts to penetrate foreign markets, especially since respective plans had already been mapped out.” “If Europe does not want to work with us, let it be,” he emphasized.
The bulk of the work on foreign markets should be undertaken by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the head of state said. “They should help our exporters and ministries. This is our most important task,” said Aleksandr Lukashenko.
