MINSK, 31 March (BelTA) – Cooperation with countries of Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America is consistent, active and equal, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he delivered his annual Address to the Belarusian people and the National Assembly on 31 March, BelTA has learned.
The head of state noted that work is underway to build a strong foundation for long-term interaction with a wide range of countries of Asia, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.
The president pointed to the increasing number of new emerging economies in Africa.
“And it is there where we need to work, consistently, intensely. We need to build a fine thread of contacts at the highest level like we are doing in Zimbabwe, the United Arab Emirates, Iran, Venezuela and other countries. And, I would like to emphasize that we are doing it on an equal footing, unlike modern neo-colonialists whose ancestors plundered the world for centuries,” the Belarusian leader said.
