MINSK, 4 August (BelTA) – Belarus is going to pay all debts without new loans in five years, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said in an interview with non-state mass media on 4 August, BelTA has learned.
Speaking about the payments on external debts, Alexander Lukashenko emphasized that the funds for such payments are included in the budget. “We will find and pay this money,” he said.
“I have not spoken about it before, but at the meeting with the government members in charge of these matters in Ufa we promised to solve the issue of debts and to pay debts without additional loans within five years,“ Alexander Lukashenko said.
In his words, at present the Belarusian economy does not need big interventions, including for the modernization of enterprises. “We will do it calmly, without huge loans. I do not see any problems here. We did not waste the money we had borrowed. We used them to upgrade enterprises,” the Belarusian President remarked.
Speaking about the state of affairs at a number of crucial enterprises, the head of state said that there are certain difficulties, and the most complicated situation can be seen at MAZ and Gomselmash. “I have recently instructed heads of these enterprises and the government to improve the situation there. People backed these instructions, but they must understand that a lot of money will be required to provide support. The state and society support them, debt payments have been delayed, public procurement contracts have been expanded,” the Belarusian leader said.
