MOSCOW, 30 June (BelTA) – It is necessary to convert Belarus into an IT country. The relevant goal has already been set. Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko made the statement during the plenary session of the fourth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia on 30 June, BelTA has learned.

Alexander Lukashenko said: “We intend to accomplish an ambitious goal: converting Belarus into an IT country. We will pass the relevant legislation soon in order to foster the development of such a situation in Belarus.”

The president remarked that the relevant documents had been developed jointly by Belarusian and Russian specialists. The documents have already been forwarded for consideration of the highest authority in Belarus.

“I am convinced that our joint project will make a decent contribution to the most contemporary directions of development of our society and economy,” said the Belarusian head of state.
