MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) – Belarus intends to structure its capabilities in Russia and set up trade promotion centers, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he met with Russia's Novosibirsk Oblast Governor Andrei Travnikov in Minsk on 10 October, BelTA has learned.
As the head of state explained, Belarus has now set a course to structure its capabilities in Russia. "Today there is a great demand for Belarusian-made goods, but we are not a very big country. Therefore, we need to clearly understand where to set up the centers through which we will work with the Russian Federation," Aleksandr Lukashenko said.
One of these centers will be located, for example, in Novosibirsk, taking into account the geographical location and importance of the region. "Without Novosibirsk, there is no half of Russia, at least beyond the Urals. Therefore, our interests should be concentrated not only in Novosibirsk but also in the entire Siberian region. In the near future, we will make such a decision and will get down to building up a competences center and a trade promotion center in Novosibirsk to work in the vast expanse of the Russian Federation (I know you support this)," the president said.
Economy should be at the heart of the unity of Belarus and Russia, Aleksandr Lukashenko said. “The unity of the two states should rely, first of all, on economy. This is how we see it from Belarus. If we maintain momentum in economy, if our relations with Russia in general are as good as with many of its regions, including yours, believe me, in this case no promotional activities will be needed,” the head of state emphasized.
