MINSK, 16 March (BelTA) - The Belarusian light industry is ready to replace some of the brands that have left the Russian market, Chairwoman of the Belarusian light industry concern Bellegprom Tatiana Lugina said at the opening of the Russian Week of Textile and Light Industry event in Moscow, BelTA learned from Bellegprom’s press secretary Marina Vaskevich.
"There are about 2,000 light industry enterprises in Belarus that have strong ties with Russia. The Belarusian export to the regions of the Russian Federation has been growing steadily. In 2021, Russia accounted for more than 65% of Bellegprom’s exports, which was $303.3 million. Our manufacturers have sufficient technological capabilities and highly qualified personnel to replace some of the brands that have left the Russian market amid the sanctions and broken logistics chains," said Tatiana Lugina.
The event was attended by representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of Russia, the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Soyuzlegprom, industry unions, representatives of the regions of the Russian Federation, foreign countries and participating companies.
The Russian Week of Textile and Light Industry features the international forum of light industry Legpromforum, international exhibitions of fabrics and textile materials Interfabric, equipment for the production and processing of textiles Inlegmash.
The Belarusian light industry is represented by the following enterprises: Mogotex, BPHO, Kamvol, Polesie, Svitanak, Gronitex, and Orsha Linen Mill.
The event has brought together about 200 leading companies from more than 20 countries.
