MINSK, 20 January (BelTA) – There are plans to set up a linen holding company in Belarus and to introduce robotic systems to the light industry. These plans are part of the draft program of Belarus’ social and economic development for 2021-2025, BelTA learned from the press service of the Bellegprom light industry concern.
“During this five-year period, we will focus on increasing the processing depth of flax and leather - this is seen as a growth point for the light industry. The document also stipulates construction and commissioning of new production facilities, introduction of robotic hardware and software, and creation of a vertically-integrated linen holding company in the future,” the press service informed.
In addition, there are plans to expand the production of polyester fabrics, as well as to improve cooperation and specialization in the light industry. This pertains to materials like low-grade flax fiber, yarn, flax cotton, composite thermal insulation materials, nonwoven textile materials; tanning waste, protein casing, collagen, feed additives.
