MINSK, 17 November (BelTA) – The launch of the BelGee plant which is currently under construction is scheduled for the first quarter of 2017. The statement was made during Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko’s press conference for Russian regional mass media.
“I have recently approved a program that requires that government car fleets be expanded only with locally-produced cars. We have our own car production. We have set it up together with the Chinese partners, and now we are completing the construction of the plant which will initially produce 60,000 cars per year. By the way, these cars are sold in Russia. So far we produce only three models. I tested them personally. One of these models will be used to replenish government car fleets,” Alexander Lukashenko said.
Deputy Prime Minister Vladimir Semashko said that the first phase of the plant is to be launched in Q1 2017. The plant is designed to manufacture 120,000 cars per year.
