MINSK, 16 November (BelTA) – Bishkek Mayor Aibek Dzhunushaliyev expressed interest in buying Belarusian vehicles when he visited the Belarusian automobile engineering company b on 16 November, BelTA has learned.
The delegation from Bishkek went on a tour of MAZ premises. Members of the delegation examined the lineup of vehicles MAZ makes, including truck tractors, dump trucks, buses, and electric buses. The guests appreciated the looks and the ergonomics of the vehicles. The mayor said: “Kyrgyzstan’s capital has certain needs regarding various transport solutions. We need about 1,200 units of urban public transport, this is why we are interested in buying buses that use gas engine fuel as well as electric buses. There is also interest in utility vehicles, for instance, garbage trucks. Our city has recently acquired several sprinkling trucks of Belarusian make. We liked them. We’ve decided we are going to buy such vehicles.”
Other cooperation possibilities were also explored during the trip to Minsk, including the establishment of joint ventures in Bishkek for the aftersales service of Belarusian vehicles. “There are plenty of opportunities for cooperation. I think we will find ways to expand it and give a new impulse to bilateral relations,” the Bishkek mayor stressed.
Chairman of the Minsk City Executive Committee Vladimir Kukharev also mentioned interest in reinforcing bilateral economic ties. “Belarusian vehicles, machines, and equipment boast affordable prices, good quality, and they are duly appreciated in many countries across the globe. Our partners have come in order to personally evaluate the situation and analyze options for cooperation with our enterprises,” he said.
The next day the Bishkek delegation intends to visit a number of other mechanical engineering enterprises in Minsk.
Bishkek and Minsk are twinned cities.
