MINSK, 27 December (BelTA) - Chairwoman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Natalya Kochanova hosted a meeting to discuss the localization of production of components for motor and bicycle vehicles of Motovelo Plant on 27 December, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian upper house of parliament.
Various options for localizing the production of component parts in Belarus were considered using motorcycle and bicycle models as an example. Attending the meeting were members of the government, Minsk authorities, and heads of Belarusian industrial enterprises.
“Belarus has preserved its industrial potential. Today we have quite a lot of state and private companies which can produce even unique parts and components. We just need to set a task for them, help them financially, including by means of innovation funds,” Natalya Kochanova said.
We need to develop cooperative chains between economic entities, stressed the speaker. “Ministries play a key role in this process. Local authorities should be involved as well, because the governor is well aware of what production facilities he has in the region and what private companies are operating there. Sectoral and regional programs on import substitution should be developed taking into account the fact that tomorrow we may not have our traditional suppliers who offer their goods at an attractive price today,” the speaker of the Council of the Republic added.
