Kobyakov: Turkey can become a key springboard for Belarusian export

ISTANBUL, 12 November (BelTA) - Turkey can become a key springboard for Belarus’ export, Belarus Prime Minister Andrei Kobyakov said when speaking at the Belarusian investment forum in Istanbul, BelTA has learned.

"Belarus has embarked on a new export market diversification strategy. We seek to start supplying one third of exports to new markets and regions in the medium term. I think Turkey can be a key place, a new springboard for us,” said Andrei Kobyakov.

According to him, Belarus has something to offer to Turkish partners. The country produces a wide range of goods: from integrated circuits to dump trucks. “We are the largest exporter of potash fertilizers, accounting for more 18% of world exports. Belarus is one of the leaders of the world's exports of IT services. Today the Belarusian-made products are used on land, in the air and in space,” stated the Belarusian head of government.

Andrei Kobyakov emphasized that Istanbul is now an attractive and rapidly growing financial center which is starting to compete with London, Zurich and Frankfurt. The Prime Minister said this became possible thanks to the effective economic policy pursued by the leadership of Turkey, diligence and enterprising spirit of Turkish companies.
