MINSK, 3 June (BelTA) – Italy would like to share its expertise and knowledge in promoting small and medium-sized enterprises with Belarus, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Italy to Belarus Mario Giorgio Stefano Baldi said on 3 June at an event to celebrate the Italian National Day - Republic Day, BelTA has learned.
The diplomat noted that Italy was proclaimed a republic over 70 years ago. Over this time, such values as freedom, justice and democracy have remained the pillars of the nation. “Over this long period of time Italy has built a successful economy, and this was due to small and medium-sized enterprises. We hope to share this expertise with Belarus. We are working on strengthening our partnerships. We are happy about good results in trade. We hope to reach €1 billion in bilateral trade next year,” the diplomat said.
The head of the Italian diplomatic mission thinks highly of the results of the visit of Belarus Premier Sergei Rumas to Rome in February. This visit gave a new impetus to bilateral relations, he believes. “The next session of the intergovernmental economic commission that will be held in Rome on 25 June and the green economy forum to be hosted by Minsk on 8 October will give a powerful boost to our relations,” the diplomat is convinced.
The ambassador emphasized vibrant humanitarian contacts between the two countries. “Italy is proud of hosting nearly 10,000 Belarusian children for holidays every year. This capital of friendship and human relations is the most valuable asset of Italy-Belarus cooperation,” the diplomat noted. The bilateral political dialogue is just as successful. “Italy has always facilitated the dialogue and cooperation between Belarus and the European Union with a view to furthering the signing of the Partnership Priorities. We also hope that the visa facilitation agreement will be signed soon, as this agreement will play an important role in promoting contacts between citizens of Belarus and the European Union, first of all, between the youth who will be able to share ideas and expertise and build a better future together,” the head of the Italian diplomatic mission said.
The event featured an exposition dedicated to famous Italian artist and scientist Leonardo da Vinci.
