Investments, industrial cooperation named priorities for Belarusian-Turkish economic interaction

MINSK, 27 July (BelTA) - Investments and industrial cooperation are the priorities of the Belarusian-Turkish economic interaction, Belarus’ Minister of Foreign Affairs Vladimir Makei said during the plenary part of the 9th session of the Belarusian-Turkish joint intergovernmental economic commission, BelTA has learned.

“The direct objective of our intergovernmental commission is to search for new promising projects in trade, industrial cooperation, investment, scientific and technical cooperation. I see the promotion of mutual investments and deepening of industrial cooperation as key priorities that could significantly improve the level of our economic contacts,” Vladimir Makei said.

According to the diplomat, the Belarusian industrial enterprises have shown strong interest in setting up, in partnership with Turkish companies, assembly plants in Turkey and joint promotion of products to the markets of the Middle East and North Africa where Turkish business has traditionally held strong positions.

“Two major Belarusian enterprises are already working with Turkish partners to establish plants to assemble farm machines, construction, municipal and other special-purpose equipment in Turkey. We have something to offer to Turkish companies in other industrial sectors: machine-tool building, instrument-making, electronics, trucks and mining equipment,” the minister noted.

For Turkish companies Belarus can become a key venue for production facilities and logistics centers oriented towards the markets of the EAEU and the CIS.

“We see good prospects for setting up the facilities to manufacture auto components, home appliances, furniture, clothing, textiles, construction materials, agricultural products in Belarus,” Vladimir Makei said.
