MINSK, 15 November (BelTA) – The trust in the national currency is increasing in Belarus, head of the IMF mission to Belarus Jacques Miniane told reporters on 15 November, BelTA has learned.
“The work to reduce dollarization of the Belarusian economy has made some progress. In the past two or three years we have been seeing an increasing trust in the national currency in Belarus. This is an important priority for the National Bank. We believe that this should remain one of areas of focus,” Jacques Miniane said.
The head of the IMF mission to Belarus emphasized that the current monetary policy pursued by the National Bank is right and chimes in with the goal to reduce inflation. The International Monetary Fund also supports gradual transition to inflation targeting. “This is a gradual process, movement in the right direction,” he noted.
