MINSK, 29 September (BelTA) – Experts of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) will be working in Minsk from 26 October to 10 November, BelTA learned from the IMF Office in Minsk.
The IMF experts will come to Minsk for annual IV article consultations.
As Belarus’ First Deputy Finance Minister Maksim Yermolovich said earlier, the talks with the IMF on a new program have been put on hold. “The work on the program has been stopped as the program is virtually ready and the talks on it have been completed. There are disagreements in some of the positions, and we are working on these disagreements. The talks will be resumed after we make a request to continue the program and hold a number of steps envisaged by the social and economic development program,” the first deputy minister said.
He added that the Finance Ministry continues cooperation with the International Monetary Fund on the budget balance parameters and the implementation of the tax and budget policy. “We cooperate with the IMF on technical assistance and the support of the projects implemented by the Finance Ministry,” the first deputy minister said.
The IMF mission last visited Belarus on 5-12 June. The IMF experts led by IMF mission chief for Belarus Peter Dohlman met with the government bodies to discuss the economic situation in the country and also other urgent cooperation matters, including, in particular, the preparations for the annual IV Article consultations scheduled for autumn 2017.
