MINSK, 1 October (BelTA) – An Aviation Security Training Center of the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) will be opened at Minsk National Airport on 13 October, Belarus’ First Deputy Minister of Transport and Communications Yevgeny Rogachev told an online press-conference at BelTA’s website.
“An official ceremony to unveil the ICAO center at Minsk National Airport will be held on 13 October with the participation of representatives of the ICAO headquarters from Canada, ICAO French Regional Bureau, heads of aviation administrations and managers of similar centers of the European and North Atlantic regions," said Yevgeny Rogachev. He also informed that the event will be attended by representatives of ministries, aviation organizations and aviation security services of Belarus.
According to Yevgeny Rogachev, the opening of the country’s first ICAO training center (there are 29 such centers in the world) is an important step in improving the effectiveness of the measures for the protection of civil aviation against acts of unlawful interference and will enhance the image of Belarus in the international aviation community. "We will be able to use the significant expertise and resources of this authoritative international organization in the process of training of aviation security specialists. We will save on training of our specialists abroad. In the long term we will be able to earn on training of foreign specialists, notably from CIS countries and the Baltic states,” Yevgeny Rogachev noted.
The Aviation Security Training Center at Minsk National Airport was certified by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO) as an ICAO Aviation Security Training Center on 15 May 2015.
