MINSK, 7 April (BelTA) – The Hungarian company Ganz EEM has tested equipment intended for the Belarusian nuclear power plant, OAO Atomenergomash Press Secretary Inna Vavulina told BelTA.
She specified that the company will make eight powerful pumps for the nuclear power plant in Belarus. Once commissioned, each will be able to pump 12m3 of water per second for the circulatory system of the Belarusian nuclear power plant. Ganz EEM has used its own lab to test the compliance of a sample of the new type of equipment with calculations.
Initially the company made a small-scale model for the sake of confirming parameters of consequent large-scale pumps.
The Russian-Hungarian joint venture Ganz Engineering and Energetics Machinery was founded in 2008. The company is part of Atomenergomash, the mechanical engineering division of the Russian nuclear industry corporation Rosatom. The company makes equipment for reloading fuel for nuclear power plants as well as turbines, axial-flow pumps, and diagonal-flow pumps of medium and large output capacity, including for Russian nuclear power plants. The company boasts a unique testing base.
Earlier Ganz EEM supplied equipment for the Rostov-based nuclear power plant. The company is now taking part in the tender to supply stainless steel pumps for the third and fourth power-generating units of the Indian nuclear power plant Kudankulam and in the tender to supply pump equipment for the Turkish nuclear power plant Akkuyu.
The Belarusian nuclear power plant is a project to build an AES-2006 type nuclear power plant 18km away from Ostrovets, Grodno Oblast. The power plant will have two power-generating units with the total output capacity of up to 2,400MW (2x1,200MW). The Russian merged company OAO NIAEP – ZAO ASE is the general designer and the general contractor of the project. In line with the general contract for building the nuclear power plant the first power-generating unit is scheduled for commissioning in 2018, with the second one to go online in 2020.
