Grodno, Druskininkai to implement more energy saving, tourism projects

GRODNO, 23 September (BelTA) – Grodno and Druskininkai will continue to implement joint energy saving, tourism projects, Lithuania’s Druskininkai Mayor Ricardas Malinauskas told reporters during the universal expo Euroregion Neman 2016 on 23 September, BelTA has learned.

“Druskininkai is a close neighbor of Grodno. And we are very glad that we have signed a twinning agreement, that the cooperation in all avenues is increasingly vibrant,” Ricardas Malinauskas said. In his words, it is important that public authorities, various organizations, educational institutions, businessmen maintain friendly relations.

“The delegation of Druskininkai includes businessmen who are taking part in the expo and the investment forum. I am convinced that they will establish new ties, find new cooperation opportunities,” Ricardas Malinauskas noted. He stressed that Druskininkai and Grodno have already implemented several joint projects in energy saving. In his words, the cooperation in this field will be continued.

“We can see that the projects to build bikeways and pedestrian zones have been successfully implemented. The cooperation in tourism should be developed. I am convinced that thanks to good approaches the decision to create a visa-free zone near the Augustow Canal will help increase the inflow of tourists to the near-border regions of Lithuania, Belarus, and Poland,” Ricardas Malinauskas remarked.

Druskininkai is taking part in the tourism fair. The famous Lithuanian resort will showcase the potential of its recuperation facilities, a water park and other objects in Grodno.

Grodno hosts the 18th Belarusian universal expo Euroregion Neman 2016 on 23-24 September. Partaking in the forum are over 160 organizations from Grodno Oblast, near-border regions of Poland and Lithuania, the representatives of Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast.

The international investment forum Grodno Region on the Crossroads of Borders is also held in Grodno. The program of the forum includes presentations of investment platforms and projects of the city and region, the free economic zone Grodnoinvest, the tourism and recreation park Augustow Canal, and a business matchmaking session. Partaking in the investment forum are businessmen and diplomats from Russia, Ukraine, Czechia, Poland, Lithuania, China, Vietnam, Azerbaijan, and other countries.
