MINSK, 17 September (BelTA) – As of 17 September, Belarus harvested 7,451,900 tonnes of grain. This included 6,195,000 tonnes of grain and leguminous crops and over 991,900 tonnes of rapeseed, BelTA learned from the press service of the Belarusian Agriculture and Food Ministry.
Harvesting corn for grain is underway in Brest Oblast, Grodno Oblast, Minsk Oblast and Gomel Oblast, with 8.052 hectares of land already cleared. A total of 62,500 tonnes of corn for grain was cropped, with the yields averaging 73.3 centners per hectare.
In addition to that, 34,500 tonnes of buckwheat (yields are 15 centners per hectare) and 16,200 tonnes of millet (yields reach 19.3 centners per hectare) were threshed.
The flax straw harvest reached 99,300 tonnes. Cereal and legume straws were harvested from 81.2% of the area.
Belarusian agricultural workers have harvested some 226,200 tonnes of potatoes. The yields average 353.6 centners per hectare.
Sugar beet harvesting is underway in Belarus. Some 599,700 tonnes of sugar beet were removed, with the yields reaching up to 451.8 centners per hectare.
