GOMEL, 20 May (BelTA) - The international exhibition Spring in Gomel makes it possible to reveal the potential of enterprises and territories, Gomel Oblast Governor Gennady Solovei said at the opening of the 22nd International Exhibition Spring in Gomel which is running through 27 May, BelTA has learned.

Gennady Solovei said that the previous edition of the exhibition was held online and added that this year the electronic business platform has been supplemented by a three-day nationwide festival of artisans.

“Revealing the potential of enterprises and territories, expanding business contacts, increasing trade and economic exchange are the main goals of the event. The exhibition envisages more than three dozen meetings which demonstrates the relevance and effectiveness of this platform,” the governor said.

According to the governor, despite the difficult epidemiological situation, many traditional brand events have been successfully winning back the right to life from the pandemic. “Every month we hold in-person and online meetings. In April, a delegation from Gomel Oblast discussed further cooperation in construction in Bryansk. During the online meeting we signed an agreement on the establishment of twinning relations between our region and the Chinese province of Sichuan,” the governor cited examples. In May, in an online dialogue with representatives of Navoi region of Uzbekistan we defined the main vectors of development in key areas of agriculture, trade, education and tourism. The talks with Armavir Province tounched upon the issues of trade and economic cooperation, and also the upcoming visit of a delegation of this Armenian region to Gomel Oblast.

Gennady Solovei is convinced that the response of foreign partners to the dialogue at Spring in Gomel indicates new mutually beneficial contacts and readiness to continue cooperation.

“Today there are 16 Gomel Oblast enterprises which are accredited to supply food products to China. We are currently working on expanding the list of enterprises and new types of goods. Gomel Meat and Dairy Company is working on the issue of beef supplies to Iran. During the recent meeting the business representatives of Gomel Oblast and Kazakhstan discussed the prospects of supplies for the Kazakhstan agro-industrial complex. The parties talked over the supplies of agricultural equipment, pedigree cattle and seedlings of fruit trees,” Gennady Solovei said.

The Gomel Oblast governor is convinced that the potential of trade and economic cooperation is huge. “The higher our mutual trade is, the better and richer the life of people in our territories will be. Gomel Oblast is a region open for cooperation,” he stressed.

The governor wished mutually beneficial contracts to the participants and guests of the international exhibition and great results to the organizers of the event.

This year Spring in Gomel has been organized in a hybrid format for the first time: the e-platform Business Spring and the nationwide festival of artisans Gomel Spring (21-23 May). Some 360 representatives from 24 countries have confirmed their participation in the events. The forum has been organized by the Gomel Office of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry with the support of the Gomel Oblast Executive Committee.
