MINSK, 16 December (BelTA) - The majority of agricultural equipment in Chelyabinsk Oblast is of Belarus’ manufacture, Governor of Russia’s Chelyabinsk Oblast Aleksei Teksler said at the expert-media forum “Knowledge. Facts. Opinions” on 16 December, BelTA has learned.
“We have traditional scientific and industrial ties and contacts. The economies of Belarus and Chelyabinsk Oblast are similar in many ways. We are industrial and machine-building regions. We have well-developed agriculture since the Soviet times. We discussed it when we talked to the president about our cooperation. Our ties are historically strong, and we receive various wheeled vehicles made by MAZ and BelAZ from Belarus. Today more than half of our agricultural equipment is manufactured in Belarus,” Aleksei Teksler said.
When asked what projects can be called the driver behind bilateral relations, the governor of Chelyabinsk Oblast said that the purchase of MTZ tractors was discussed during his visit. “Our companies are also interested in buying BelAZ trucks, including BelAZ gas-powered vehicles. We produce liquefied natural gas in Magnitogorsk, and this can be a very promising project. During our previous visit, we communicated with our Belarusian counterparts at the Industry Ministry, and discussed every promising project. During the discussion we realized that there could be even more projects,” Aleksei Teksler stressed.
