MINSK, 13 March (BelTA) - Gomel and Clermont-Ferrand of France agreed to expand cooperation, BelTA learned from the Belarusian Embassy in France.
Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus to France Pavel Latushko visit the French city of Clermont-Ferrand, which twinned with Gomel in 1977. He met with Mayor Olivier Bianchi and conveyed him an invitation to visit Gomel for the 16th edition of the Spring in Gomel international fair due on 21-24 May.
Olivier Bianchi said Clermont-Ferrand is interested in the further development of cooperation with Gomel, and stressed the importance of the historical links between the two cities, and also contacts in the fields of culture and education.
The Mayor of Clermont-Ferrand informed the Belarusian diplomat about the intention to invite representatives of the Gomel city authorities and business community of Belarus to take part in the Sommet de L’elevage, a leading European forum for livestock professionals, held annually in Clermont-Ferrand in October.
Pavel Latushko and Olivier Bianchi agreed to consider the possibility of undertaking joint projects in the fields of economy and culture.
Olivier Bianchi informed Pavel Latushko about the intention to invite delegations of the twin towns for the Michelin Summit in 2016 (the parent company of Michelin is located in Clermont-Ferrand).
