MINSK, 2 June (BelTA) - Georgia is interested in creating joint agricultural enterprises with Belarus, Georgia Minister of Agriculture Otar Daneliya told BelTA at the Belagro 2015 expo.
The Minister stressed that Georgia views Belarus not only as a friend but also as an important strategic partner. "The visit of the Belarus President to Georgia opened a new page in the bilateral relations," Otar Daneliya said. Thus, the parties agreed on the important issues of the cooperation in various fields.
The establishment of joint ventures both in Georgia and Belarus was discussed among other things. With regard to agriculture, Otar Daneliya said the two countries are considering poultry farming and production of agricultural equipment as possible areas of cooperation. The details will be discussed later this month.
"One of the interesting trends is the popularization of Georgian grape varieties in Belarus," the Minister added.
In general, he believes that the cooperation between Belarus and Georgia is quite productive. "However, the volume of bilateral trade is insufficient, and we need to work on it," Otar Daneliya concluded.
