Foreign investments in Belarus at $4.5bn in H1 2020

MINSK, 11 August (BelTA) – Foreign investors injected $4.5 billion into the real sector of Belarusian economy (apart from banks) in January-June 2020, BelTA learned from the National Statistics Committee.

Among the main investors in Belarus were economic entities of Russia (42.8% of the total), Cyprus (10.9%), and Austria (7.9%).

Foreign direct investments (FDI) made up $3.2 billion, or 70.8% of total foreign investments.

In January-June 2020, Belarusian organizations (apart from banks) invested a total of $2.3 billion abroad. Belarus mainly invested in the economic entities of Russia (77.1% of the total), Ukraine (8.2%), the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland (4.9%).

FDI accounted for 96.3% of all the investments that went abroad.
