MINSK, 13 February (BelTA) – The first export train laden with Belarusian goods embarked on a journey to China’s Nanchang from Orsha along the New Silk Road route, Belarus 1 TV channel informed on 12 February.
The cargo will total almost 1,000 tonnes. The train comprises 41 containers which will be delivered directly to a warehouse in China.
“These are consumer goods, first of all, raw materials. There are plans to ship food in the future. Belarusian exporters show big interest in supplying refrigerators via Orsha,” said head of the department of the multimodal industrial and logistics complex Bremino Orsha Vladimir Kostenevich.
Each container is equipped with the satellite navigation system. In the future such trains will travel along the route every month.
“The work is based on the one-stop shop principle. Customs clearance, a terminal for loading operations, paperwork, and cargo declaration are all in one place,” added deputy head of the Orsha station of the Minsk branch of the Belarusian Railways Vladimir Gorbachev.
The delivery time by sea takes up to 40 days. The journey time by rail will make it ten days.
