MINSK, 12 October (BelTA) – Scientists from 20 countries will take part in the first Belarusian congress of philosophy entitled as National Philosophy in the Global World which is due to take place in Minsk on 18-20 October, Director of the Institute of Philosophy of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus Anatoly Lazarevich told a press conference on 12 September, BelTA has learned.
“The first Belarusian congress of philosophy has been initially planned as a national event. We saw, however, a big international interest in the forum. Taking part in the forum will be about 500 philosophers. Virtually half of the participants are foreign guests. Belarus will welcome scientists from 20 countries, including Russia, China, France, Italy, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Moldova, the Baltic states,” said Anatoly Lazarevich.
The congress will be one of the biggest forums in the Year of Science in Belarus and the country’s ever largest scientific forum in philosophy, social and humanitarian sciences. Among the guests of the congress are heads of international scientific organizations and foundations, leaders of national schools of philosophy of a number of countries.
The organizers view the congress as an instrument to consolidate scientists for addressing fundamental tasks in the development of the state, the society and culture, and also as a means to exhibit the achievements of the Belarusian science, the legacy of the spiritual culture the intellectual potential of Belarus, the country’s contribution to the peace process and addressing the global issues of the present day.
