First batch of MAZ equipment shipped to Sudan

MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) – The first batch of Belarus’ MAZ equipment has arrived in Sudan, BelTA learned from the Twitter account of the Belarusian embassy in Egypt.

BelTA informed about the shipment in mid January 2017, quoting Mohamed Abdelazim, director of the company selling farm machinery and equipment, a subsidiary of Sudan’s Mohamed Ikhwan Group (MIG), as saying “We, together with MAZ, have recently shipped ten trucks for Petrola Company. We hope our successful cooperation will be continued.”

Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko paid an official visit to Sudan on 16-17 January 2017. The Belarusian leader held talks with Sudan President Omar Hassan Ahmad al-Bashir. The parties agreed to step up cooperation between the two countries in a number of areas, including trade, industry, agriculture, and humanitarian affairs. Belarus and Sudan signed an agreement on friendly relations and cooperation and several other international documents.

Alexander Lukashenko also addressed members of the two chambers of the Sudanese parliament, told them about the advantages of cooperation with Belarus and the results of the top-level meeting in Khartoum. He also presented his view of the current Belarusian-Sudanese relations.

Khartoum played host to the Belarus-Sudan business forum on 17 January. Its participants signed a number of contracts and reached promising agreements.
