MINSK, 10 December (BelTA) – Belarus and Sudan are implementing 12 joint projects, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Belarus with concurrent accreditation to Sudan Sergei Rachkov told BelTA.
According to the diplomat, the two countries enjoy good political and economic relations. “The focus is on cooperation in trade, economy, and industry. The progress in the implementation of the agreements reached during Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko’s visit to Sudan in January 2017 will be in the spotlight of the talks in Minsk,” Sergei Rachkov said.
Belarus and Sudan are implementing joint projects in gold mining, the development of a multi-product machine-building enterprise to assemble MAZ and Gomselmash tractors and trucks. The two states are also talking over the participation of Belarusian organizations in Sudanese energy projects, initiatives to increase oil recovery of the Sudanese fields. Work is also underway to establish joint ventures to produce meat and dairy products, fodder, vegetables and seedlings.
Belarus supplied BelAZ rock haulers with payload capacity of 55 tonnes to Sudan last autumn. Now the parties are negotiating the supply of five rock haulers with payload capacity of 90-220 tonnes.
The diplomat added that the Belarusian vehicles have proved their worth on the Sudanese market, and the parties are further exploring the prospects for their supply and setting up assembly plants in Sudan.
