GRODNO, 16 May (BelTA) - Cooperation in agriculture is one of the promising areas of regional cooperation between Belarus and the Netherlands, Dutch charge d'affaires in Belarus Paul van Oostveen said as he met with Grodno Vice Governor Viktor Liskovich, BelTA has learned.
The diplomat highlighted the high potential of cooperation between the regions in different sectors. “Dutch companies are interested in developing ties in agriculture with the regions of Belarus. So much so that we already have positive experience of interaction in the production of high-tech equipment for agriculture,” he said.
During the meeting, the parties discussed investment cooperation. In 2018 Grodno Oblast raised more than $25.5 million in foreign investment from the Netherlands. Belagroterminal’s investment project to build an oil-extraction plant in Smorgon was completed last year. The Belarusian-Dutch strawberry company in Shchuchin District continues growing.
The parties reviewed the relations in humanitarian, cultural and social areas. Grodno Oblast, for example, is actively developing tourism. Viktor Liskovich stressed that ties in culture and tourism often precede the development of economic relations, help countries and peoples learn more and understand each other better, and find common ground.
