MINSK, 4 December (BelTA) – Belarusian Railways in association with the railway administrations of Latvia and Russia will switch the transit of empty privately owned railway cars moving between the three countries to the digital format as from 10 December. Instead of hardcopy documents digital invoices will be used, the press service of Belarusian Railways told BelTA.
The step is supposed to optimize international transportation primarily by expediting and simplifying work with clients and by providing quality services in a convenient manner. A 1520mm gauge railway connecting Russia – Belarus – Russia’s Kaliningrad Oblast was the first line to start using digital transit documents in December 2016.
Belarusian Railways stressed that the introduction of digital paperless technologies for freight transportation is a priority in the development of the company. Belarusian Railways is intent on enabling comfortable, attractive, and competitive conditions for transporting cargoes of its clients and will continue the policy of switching all the transportation procedures to digital rails.
