Cuba interested in Belarusian products, technologies

MINSK, 23 October (BelTA) – Cuba is eager to step up cooperation with Belarus in various areas. In particular, we need Belarusian technologies and products, Cuba President Miguel Mario Diaz-Canel Bermudez said at the talks with Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko in Minsk on 23 October, BelTA has learned.

“We are happy to visit Belarus again, the country with which we have close friendship ties. We attach great importance to this visit. It is an continuation of our relationship and marks the commitment to strengthen and expand our cooperation,” Miguel Diaz-Canel said.

Miguel Diaz-Canel conveyed greetings from Raul Castro to Aleksandr Lukashenko and confirmed the invitation to visit Cuba to continue strengthening bilateral relations. “Belarus is a friendly country for Cuba with which we will always be ready to have brotherly and friendly relations,” Miguel Diaz-Canel added.

He noted that Cuba is going through a difficult situation due to the U.S. sanctions.

Miguel Diaz-Canel thanked Belarus for the support. “We condemn threats and unilateral sanctions that some states impose on other countries. We advocate peace and prosperity for our nations, and sustainable development,” the Cuban president said.

He noted that the economies of the two counties are complementary and Belarus-Cuba trade and economic cooperation has great prospects. “We are interested in a lot of Belarusian products and technologies. We would also like to deliver our products to Belarus. The countries could start cooperating in healthcare. The exchange of biotechnology and pharmaceutical products is also on the agenda. Apart from supplying such products, we could establish cooperation in this field and transfer technologies,” Miguel Diaz-Canel said.
