Contracts worth $1.5bn signed at BelCCI business forums

Contracts worth $1.5bn signed at BelCCI business forums

MINSK, 10 October (BelTA) – The Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry (BelCCI) has signed supply contracts worth roughly $1.5 billion at the business forums in the last three years, BelCCI head Vladimir Ulakhovich told the media ahead of the 11th congress of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in Minsk on 10 October, BelTA has learned.

“We have our own road map, it is called the BelCCI 2020 development strategy. We adopted it less than three years ago. It has four main priorities: to promote domestic export, to ensure easy access to services, to facilitate BelCCI digitalization, and to support our members,” said Vladimir Ulakhovich

“We have launched a number of new projects to promote domestic export. The government delegated us the authority to coordinate exhibitions abroad, make proposals for regulatory acts, and to use the budget, even though the BelCCI is not a state institution. In the last three years we signed the contracts to supply Belarusian products worth $1.5 billion at our business forums,” Vladimir Ulakhovich noted.

“We also provide a range of new services: legal services, marketing, export support and others. We have been granted status and now work as authorized body to issue the joint product certificates made in the Eurasian Economic Union. The government zalso authorized us to issue certificates of free sale,” Vladimir Ulakhovich continued.

The BelCCI has gone digital in many ways. “We have launched online verification of certificates. You can check online whether the certificate has been issued or not. Soon members of the chamber will have their own accounts. We expect that electronic signature will be legally recognized, and then we will simply provide our services online,” the chairman said.

Vladimir Ulakhovich said that 1,439 enterprises want to become members of the BelCCI, and the number speaks for itself. “At present the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry unites a record number of 2,434 enterprises, 60% of them are small and medium-sized business,” Vladimir Ulakhovich said.

Representatives of over 230 enterprises and organizations from all regions of the country will participate in the 11th congress of the Belarusian Chamber of Commerce and Industry. The BelCCI will take stock of the progress made in the last three years, and determine the promising areas of work.
