Container train with Belarusian products off to China

MINSK, 8 October (BelTA) – A container train carrying Belarusian dried dairy products has left for China, BelTA has learned.

The train consists of 41 containers. The cargo is more than 2,000 cubic meters. Products will be delivered to the Qisumu station in China. The train will travel more than 7,000 km over 14 days. “Beltamozhservice provides full logistics support in connection with China. Today we are sending the 16th container train to China with products made by different Belarusian companies. It benefits our exporters and foreign buyers. Thanks to inexpensive logistics, Chinese consumer receive high-quality Belarusian products in a short time possible,” said Director of the Minsk branch of Beltamozhservice Aleksandr Skachkovsky.

The company has developed a multifunctional logistics network that includes eight transport and logistics centers, access roads and a container site in Minsk District. “Since 2016, Beltamozhservice has been actively developing projects under the Belt and Road initiative to transport goods by rail as part of container trains. Beltamozhservice is both a consignee/consignor and a co-operator and forwarder. In January-September 2020, the company shipped 627 containers to China. The total volume of delivered products is 17,000 tonnes. 14-16 days is needed to reach the destination. The freight destinations in China include Taiyuan, Changsha, Qisumu.

“Rail transport is one of the most economical, reliable and accurate ways to deliver goods. It is universal when moving large volumes of goods over considerable distances, which explains its high market performance. The main advantage of container rail transportation is the absence of additional overloads," the company said.

Among the goods exported in this way are Belarusian lumber, peat, flax fiber, dried dairy products, starch. The products are supplied from different regions of the country. Plans are in place to increase the frequency of container train shipments and expand the assortment.
