MOGILEV, 12 October (BelTA) – Chairman of the Council of the Republic of the National Assembly of Belarus Mikhail Myasnikovich and Chairwoman of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation Valentina Matviyenko expect the problem of roaming charges in Belarusian-Russian mobile calls to be resolved. Mikhail Myasnikovich and Valentina Matviyenko made the relevant statements during the fifth Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia in Mogilev on 12 October, BelTA has learned.
Mikhail Myasnikovich said: “The matter is still on the agenda. I think the problem will be resolved as part of our efforts to develop the Union State of Belarus and Russia. Financial flows and time are being compared now. Our relevant ministries and top mobile carriers are on it. I think we will not have roaming problems in the union space.”
In turn, Valentina Matviyenko noted that a Belarusian-Russian roadmap towards dropping roaming charges in the Union State of Belarus and Russia was adopted in August at the government agency level. “There are still economic and financial aspects to consider. Work is now in progress to find out how much revenue our mobile carriers will lose. But I am absolutely sure that within the next 18 months the roadmap will be implemented and roaming charges will be dropped. This problem will definitely be resolved,” she stated.
