MINSK, 29 December (BelTA) - Sales of Belarusian confectionery products on the domestic market have been on the rise, Chairman of the Belarusian state food industry concern Belgospishcheprom Oleg Zhidkov said in an interview to the Economy of Belarus magazine, BelTA has learned.
In 2021 the share of domestic confectionery sales inside the country was 60%. In January-September 2022, the figure rose to 70.8% in flour confectionery, for example. “Belarusian consumers choose domestic sweets because they are confident in the quality of the products,” the Belgospishcheprom head said.
“The key task in the confectionery industry will always be to meet the people’s needs for quality products. To this end, we are constantly improving the competitiveness of the products, updating the range of products. At the same time we keep the best traditions of confectionery art. Improvement of production technologies helps organizations develop and satisfy the tastes of the most demanding customers,” Oleg Zhidkov added.
A good example of an innovative import-substitution project is the launch of the production of marmalade and jelly sweets based on domestic vegetable raw materials at the new enterprise Krasny Pischevik-Slavgorod. The company launched the production of jelly marmalade in March 2022. This is a unique enterprise, which produces new products for Belarus, including marmalade with vitamins, diabetic marmalade, and low-carbohydrate sweets.
